I am what you would call a scavenger or picker (one who collects items from discarded material.) Basically i am a junk collector! I will pull anything and everything out of the trash or from a pile at the Salvation Army if i think i can create something out of it. Taking something ugly or rusted or old, and making it into something beautiful, and useful is the greatest high there is.
A long time ago there was this man who was also a junk collector (much better at it than i) his name was Thomas Edison and his philosophy in life was "To invent you need a good imagination and a pile of junk."
The possibilities are endless when it comes to creating. Using old furniture with a fresh coat of paint, or discarded magazines to make collages or cards, or old mason jars to organize your desk at home. Even recycling your Starbucks coffee bags to make 3D flowers is possible!
My newest adventure in junk inventing started a few days ago. I was at an Antique mall and found all these old silver platters. Some were bent and tarnished, and i even found one that had been burnt in a house fire! I am going to clean them up and make them into chalkboards. Before they were pretty useless and honestly, ugly, but now with a little bit of black chalkboard paint they have become a piece of art.
Creativity, its not really what makes the World go round, but it sure does make it interesting.
